Apple’s $2000+ iPhone, Oil Gain Stokes Inflation Fear | Bloomberg Businessweek Daily 9/8/2026

Around 2020, Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook returned from a trip to Asia unusually energized about a new product category: foldable phones. The project will reach its defining moment on Wednesday, when Apple is poised to unveil its first foldable phone. The introduction will also serve as a debut of sorts for CEO John Ternus, who took the job on Sept. 1. The timing of the leadership transition was meant to help herald a new era for Apple products and allow Ternus to be the one to unveil the foldable device. Bloomberg Managing Editor for Consumer Tech, Mark Gurman reports. Plus, Mia Gindis, Bloomberg News Oil Markets Reporter and Mike McKee, Bloomberg TV and Radio International Economics & Policy Correspondent discuss Brent Oil nearing $100 a barrel as conflict with Iran continues. Finally, Bloomberg Opinions Columnist Marc Champion discusses the latest in the lack of negotiations to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
