Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s overwhelming loss in Hungary’s parliamentary elections marked a major rejection of Orban’s Illiberal Democracy, a form of government which has elections, but rights and freedoms are not guaranteed. It’s a form of government many fear America is turning into under Donald Trump. But as Anne Applebaum argues, Orban’s loss shows illiberalism isn’t inevitable.
