A legacy of mistreatment for Native Americans


While Native Americans were victorious in the Battle of the Little Bighorn 150 years ago, the battle reshaped the government’s policy toward Indigenous people.

The legacy of mistreatment continues to cast a long shadow. Today, Native Americans have the highest poverty and lowest life expectancy rates of any racial or ethnic group in the United States.
