Why Canada-U.S. trade should be a ‘win-win’ venture
President Donald Trump’s trade war with Canada is a “lose-lose situation,” former World Bank President Robert Zoellick says.
“The bigger question is not who can be hurt more; it’s the question of how we should try to figure out how North America can compete with others,” he tells Compass Points host Nick Schifrin. “When Canada grows, they buy more from the United States, much more than China does. When Mexico grows, they buy more from the United States.”
“We’ve got an administration that looks at everything in zero-sum power terms and even sort of childish statements, as opposed to how you make a win-win venture,” he later added.
