Emergency birth as quake shook Indonesian hospital
As the earth shook around her, tearing apart homes, buildings, and bridges in eastern Indonesia, Maria Florida Nogo Kelen was giving birth to her daughter. Doctors performed emergency surgery, at times by flashlight, as the building rocked, fearing she’d suffer a fatal seizure if they didn’t.
