After oil shale: Are magnets the next big business for Europe? | Transforming Business


As oil shale mining fades, Estonia is rebuilding its economy. A new magnet factory ties local job losses to Europe’s push for rare earth security and a break from Chinese supply chains. For the 1.3 million Estonians  living in this small Northern European country, this transformation is critical. And so it is for Europe, too — as it tries to prove that the green transition can be fair, democratic, and shaped on its own terms.
