Germany’s defense minister has announced plans to build what he calls Europe’s strongest conventional army. Presenting a national military strategy for the first time together with other defense officials, Boris Pistorius said building up his nation’s defense capabilities is key to confronting a more dangerous world — especially in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. He said the Kremlin is now creating conditions for an attack on NATO states, including hybrid operations, like sabotage, cyber attacks and disinformation campaigns.
