Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas addressed the UN via video after again being denied an entry visa by the Trump administration. He called on global leaders to hold Israel accountable and for the implementation of the stalled 20-point Gaza ceasefire plan.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lambasted Tehran, dramatically claiming that if he hadn’t attacked Iran, “we’d all be dead.” He also defended Israel’s war in Gaza. Netanyahu provoked a polarized reaction as he took to the podium, and a large number of diplomats walked out of the room. Others stood and applauded the Israeli leader. “If there are any other moral cowards who haven’t yet left this hall, please do so now,” Netanyahu said.
