Russia-Africa Summit LIVE: Putin Courts African Leaders in Push to Challenge Western Influence

LIVE: Russian President Vladimir Putin chairs Day 2 of the Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow, with African leaders and heads of delegations gathering for the official family photo.

The third Russia-Africa Summit brings together representatives from 48 African countries, including delegations led by 22 heads of state. Talks focus on expanding economic ties, trade, food and fertilizer supplies, security cooperation, technology and Africa’s role in global institutions.

The gathering is also part of Moscow’s effort to strengthen its partnerships across Africa as Russia faces continued pressure from Western governments over its war in Ukraine. Putin has presented Russia as an alternative partner to Western powers, while African governments are pursuing their own economic and diplomatic priorities.

Watch the live family-photo ceremony and coverage of Day 2 of the summit, as leaders discuss the future of Russia-Africa relations and the changing balance of global influence.
