Texas Republicans aren’t used to losing. But this year the party is in panic mode. Polls suggest the Democrats could win a Texas Senate seat for the first time in almost 50 years.
The border crisis, that once united the party, has eased. So some Republicans are pivoting to a new target—warning that foreigners threaten the state from within, even as Texas’s fastest-growing suburbs grow more diverse.
