Anthropic pays for the compute whether it needs it or not | The 8:30
A new draft of Anthropic’s IPO prospectus, seen by the Wall Street Journal, shows first-half revenue of $16.3 billion against $1.1 billion a year earlier, and roughly $600 billion of committed compute spending with talks underway that could take it toward $750 billion. The line Jake Conley picks out is the one that matters: $111 billion to Google, $110 billion to Amazon Web Services and $31 billion to Microsoft, payable regardless of actual usage. Two customers account for about a fifth of first-half revenue. Then Citadel’s Ken Griffin says AI is almost certainly a bubble, and Nvidia’s Jensen Huang tells Deirdre Bosa why the money goes out months before it comes back.
