Anthropic warns AI could copy itself onto your smart fridge

Anthropic warned that AI models could self-replicate onto internet-connected devices like smart TVs, fridges, microwaves and modems, using their computing power to run themselves, and said such a system would be “challenging to shut down” with no central point of control. The 8:30 hosts break down what the warning does and doesn’t say, why internet of things devices are already prime targets for hackers and state security services, a reported hack of grocery store refrigeration systems in France and the Netherlands, and a report that Chinese-made rental cars used by Norway’s army recorded soldiers’ movements and base passcodes.
