Anne Carson wins Nobel Prize in Literature

Canadian poet and essayist Anne Carson is this year’s winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature.

The Nobel committee cited her bold and inventive works for creating what it called new forms of contemporary literature.

One of her best-known works is “Autobiography of Red,” which turns a piece of Greek poetry into a tale of a teen love affair.

When asked how she would celebrate, Carson said she’s going out for a walk in the woods to avoid the phone and as she put it, “hear the quiet.”
