Secretary of State Marco Rubio says it was a routine redeployment but President Trump says it was in response to a threat. The decision comes a week after five men were arrested near the base on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack. Police later arrested another man with dual British-Iranian citizenship. All six have since been released on bail. Iran has strongly denied any involvement.
