Brazilian election headed to runoff | DW News
Latin America’s largest election is headed to a second round after neither incumbent President Lula da Silva nor Senator Flavio Bolsonaro managed to win over 50% of the vote. Bolsonaro, from the right-wing Liberal Party (LP), seeks to continue the populist movement started by his father, Jair Bolsonaro, who is serving a 27-year sentence under house arrest following his conviction for an attempted coup. Lula, who founded the center-left Workers’ Party (PT), is seeking his fourth non-consecutive term. The next round is set for October 25.
