Israel PM Says Flydubai Pilot Is Omani, US May Send 10,000 More Troops to Mideast

Israel’s prime minister says the alleged Flydubai hijacker is Omani, though neither Flydubai nor the UAE government has confirmed the pilot’s nationality. UAE prosecutors have ordered an investigation into the incident, while Benjamin Netanyahu says it is too early to determine whether Iran was involved. Flydubai has suspended flights to Tel Aviv as the incident puts cockpit security back in focus.
Tensions across the Middle East remain elevated. The US may deploy an additional aircraft carrier and 10,000 troops to the region, while more Patriot systems could be sent to protect Saudi and Qatari energy sites. The Houthis have also targeted a power facility near Madinah.
Iran’s foreign minister has privately indicated Tehran could allow inspectors to visit bombed locations if sanctions are eased.
The Treasury rebound pulls yields off multi-decade highs as the bond rout takes a breather. Fed officials discuss the rise in yields, while economists expect US jobs growth slowed in September. Hong Kong stocks fall on higher borrowing costs and policy concerns, with HSBC leading financial shares lower.
Anthropic is targeting a mega-IPO as early as mid-November, with investors estimating a potential valuation of $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion. Broadcom is also raising $60 billion to fund chips for Anthropic.
AI chip smuggling is under scrutiny as Nvidia processors continue reaching China despite US restrictions, including a Taiwan case alleging 74 Nvidia server units made it into China.
Elsewhere, Tokyo inflation accelerates, SpaceX Crew-13 docks at the International Space Station, and Disney Entertainment Co-Chair Dana Walden tells Bloomberg Screentime that consolidation remains part of the business as companies continually evaluate their structures.
