Alternative Nobel goes to lawyer who stood up to repression | DW News
The 2026 Right Livelihood Award is shining a spotlight on Pakistani lawyer Jalila Haider, whose advocacy has made her one of the country’s most prominent human rights defenders. Haider has faced detention, cyber-harassment, death threats and travel restrictions while representing marginalized communities in Balochistan. She first gained national attention after leading a seven-day hunger strike in 2018 against the targeted killing of Hazaras.
