Australia has announced a major overhaul of its student visa system, with most international students set to lose the ability to bring partners or children under new rules. Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke says the measures are part of a broader push to reduce migration, ease housing pressures and tackle so-called “visa hopping.” Limited exemptions will apply to students from Pacific and ASEAN countries and those undertaking PhD programmes.
