WATCH: Trump floats renaming Strait of Hormuz to Trump Strait: ‘I should get something out of this’
Speaking to the crowd at the first Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas, President Donald Trump on Wednesday proposed a new name for the Strait of Hormuz.
“We should call it the Trump Strait. I should get something out of this,” the president said after claiming the U.S. controls the waterway. “I’m sure the Iranian leadership will be thrilled with that, obviously. I’d like to tell you it was their idea. It was not their idea.”
Trump also said the price of oil will be going down “as soon as we win the war with Iran.”
On Wednesday, Brent crude traded above $100 a barrel for the first time since July as the U.S. and Iran traded attacks.
