Remembering jazz singer Cassandra Wilson
Jazz singer and songwriter Cassandra Wilson has died. She was 70.
With unique takes on songs like “Harvest Moon,” Wilson was one of the major jazz acts of the 1980s and 1990s.
She won two Grammys, and in 2001, Time magazine declared her “America’s best” singer.
With a distinctive voice and cross-genre appeal, she opened for the likes of Miles Davis and also covered artists including Joni Mitchell and Cyndi Lauper.
