Shuvaloy Majumdar, a member of Canada’s parliament from the Conservative Party, discussed elements of anti-Americanism within Canada and their impact.
“Much of Canadian identity has been taught in schools and across the academy to be ‘not American,'” he said. “That distinction, at first, sounds polite, but it can open the door to something more insidious and something that I think undermines our national history and our contribution to Western civilization.”
“When you don’t know who you are and what you are really setting yourself up to fight for, then it’s easy to get confused by politicians that seek to do demagoguery at the expense of our actual national interests,” he later added.
