No plans to send troops to voting places, Caine says
The nation’s top military officer says that there are no plans to send troops to voting locations for the midterm elections, according to a letter obtained by PBS News.
The letter from Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was sent in response to a letter dated Aug. 18 from Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich.
While it is not legal for members of the military to be outside of polling locations, President Donald Trump has not been so clear on the issue.
