Why Trump sees Canada as an enemy

President Donald Trump sees Canada’s leaders as a “punching bag,” The Dispatch’s Stephen Hayes says.

“He hasn’t liked their leaders,” he told Washington Week moderator Jeffrey Goldberg. “I think he sees them as a punching bag. He doesn’t like it when they stand up and defy him. He expects them to just capitulate, and when they don’t, that makes him angrier and angrier.”

He added that the president’s policies and actions against Canada are “strange” as most Americans view their northern neighbor favorably.
