Russia has claimed major battlefield gains in Ukraine, saying its forces captured two settlements and inflicted more than 1,400 Ukrainian troop losses in just 24 hours. The claims came shortly after CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s visit to Moscow, raising fresh questions over the battlefield situation and U.S.-Russia tensions. Moscow also claimed to have destroyed Ukrainian artillery, armoured vehicles and hundreds of drones, while reporting interceptions of guided bombs, a HIMARS rocket and Flamingo cruise missiles. Russia’s Defence Ministry further claimed massive cumulative Ukrainian equipment losses since 2022. The figures have not been independently verified.
