China Trade ‘Backdoor’? Vance Accuses Canada Of Unfair Dealings With Beijing | US-Canada Trade Deal

U.S. Vice President JD Vance has accused Canada of allowing itself to become a “backdoor” for Chinese goods, as tense trade negotiations between Washington and Ottawa remain deadlocked.

Speaking in Maine, Vance said Canada treats Chinese goods more fairly than products from U.S. states such as Maine, calling the situation “insanity” and demanding what he described as fairness in trade.

Vance also warned that the United States is prepared to fight back against what Washington considers unfair trade practices from both China and Canada.

The remarks come after the latest round of U.S.-Canada trade talks broke down, with both sides blaming each other and Canada threatening retaliatory tariffs against U.S. goods.
