Trump revives push to remove Fed governor Lisa Cook
President Donald Trump is reviving his push to remove Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
The News Hour has obtained a letter the White House sent to Cook this week saying it is considering removing her and giving her 21 days to respond to unproven allegations of mortgage fraud.
Trump and his allies tried to force Cook out last year on similar grounds.
She filed a lawsuit challenging her dismissal, and in June the Supreme Court blocked Trump from firing Cook while her suit is pending. But the court did not weigh in on the underlying allegations against her.
Cook’s lawyer called the claims “baseless.”
