Oil has extended gains after a report that Iran attacked “hostile targets” in the Strait of Hormuz, with Tehran reportedly seeking to bar US ships from the critical waterway in a deal with Oman.
Stocks were muted as traders held back from making big bets ahead of the key monthly US payrolls report. A stronger-than-expected reading would reinforce the case for higher-for-longer interest rates.
