India Secures LNG Until September as West Asia Conflict Disrupts Qatar Supplies
India has secured enough liquefied natural gas (LNG) to meet domestic demand until September, despite major disruptions caused by the escalating conflict in West Asia. After Iranian missile attacks forced Qatar to halt production at the Ras Laffan Industrial City, the world’s largest LNG export hub, India moved quickly to diversify its energy imports.
The government has expanded LNG purchases from the United States, UAE, Nigeria, Oman, Angola and Trinidad, reducing its dependence on Qatar, which previously supplied nearly half of India’s LNG imports.
