House advances bill barring sitting Congress members from buying stocks


The U.S. House advanced the Stop Insider Trading Act, a GOP-led bill meant to curb insider trading that critics say doesn’t go far enough.

Lawmakers would not be able to purchase new stocks while in office under the proposal, which now moves to the Senate, but they could retain existing investments.
