As skateboard wheels rattle across the concrete bowls of La Paz’s skate parks, Francesca Loza, a 25-year-old medical student, cuts an unusual figure. Dressed in the layered pollera skirt once worn daily by her mother and grandmother, she joins fellow members of the Bolivian skate collective ‘Warmis Sobre Ruedas’ in blending Indigenous tradition with a sport more commonly associated with urban youth culture.
