On today’s show, oil jumped after the US and Iran traded fresh strikes. US Central Command says dozens of targets were hit in one of the heaviest bombardments since an interim deal to end the war was signed in June. Tehran retaliated with attacks on US allies in the Persian Gulf and beyond.
SK Hynix shares fell more than 13% in Seoul, after its highly-anticipated US trading debut. The slump drove the benchmark Kospi 8% lower, triggering a brief circuit-breaker suspension. In Taiwan, TSMC reported a 36% jump in quarterly sales, in a sign that global demand for AI hardware remains intact.
And Bloomberg understands that the chief executive of Ukraine’s state run-energy company Naftogaz and the former Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal are in the running to be Ukraine’s next Prime Minister, as President Zelenskyy prepares for another winter at war.
