Red Balloon Aerospace has successfully launched Mission SANA — India’s first indigenous super-pressure stratospheric balloon platform carrying commercial payloads. The VISTA platform ascended to approximately 25 kilometres above Earth from Vijayawada, marking a major milestone for India’s near-space capabilities. With this achievement, India joins an elite group of just five nations (US, France, Japan, China, and India) with indigenous hydrogen balloon technology. Founded in 2025, the company achieved operational commercial flight in a record eight months. The mission carried payloads from seven national and international partners for biological experiments, propulsion tech, earth observation, and more.
