India-US Trade Deal Nears as US Targets $500 Billion Trade by 2030 Amid $60B Investments
The United States says it is looking forward to finalising a major bilateral trade agreement with India in the coming weeks and months. Speaking at an American Chamber of Commerce event, US Ambassador Sergio Gor said the proposed deal will expand market access, reduce trade barriers, strengthen supply chains and boost investments between the two countries.
Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal also revealed that American companies have committed over $60 billion in investments in India over the last six months. Both nations are targeting $500 billion in bilateral trade by 2030 as economic ties deepen rapidly.
