Some Americans are choosing between paying for gas or paying for food, while other Americans – celebrities – descended on New York for the Bezos-sponsored, Vogue-run Met Gala. Symone and Eugene clock the affordability crisis gripping America with gas prices doubling since Trump’s Iran war started. It has some Americans trying to figure out how to pay for groceries.

But 2026 was different, because Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sánchez-Bezos, were the primary sponsors. They are joined by Honey Magazine co-founder and Ebony Magazine former Editor-in-Chief Kierna Mayo to discuss why exactly the streets were upset with the cultural takeover by one of the world’s richest tycoons. And why they themselves are not ready to fault the Carter family for attending.
