India Opens Alternate Gulf Trade Routes Amid Hormuz Blockade | Fuel, Cargo Flow Continues
India has activated alternate shipping routes to keep trade and fuel supplies moving as the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked amid the escalating US-Iran war. Major shipping lines including Maersk, CMA CGM and Unifeeder are rerouting cargo through ports in Oman and the UAE to avoid disruption in Gulf trade.
The crisis has increased freight costs and delayed shipments, especially impacting Indian MSME exporters. Meanwhile, the government says fuel prices remain unchanged despite the ongoing West Asia tensions. Reliance’s Jamnagar refinery is also set for a temporary maintenance shutdown later this month.
