Air India is cutting around 100 daily flights—nearly 10% of its schedule—as soaring jet fuel prices and geopolitical disruptions make several routes unviable. Fuel accounts for up to 40 percent of an airline’s operating costs. So even small price spikes can quickly erode profitability, this one is anything but small. Long-haul international routes are hit the hardest, with higher fares and fewer options likely for passengers.
