HEATED Exchange Between U.S. Senators & Trump’s Treasury Secretary Over Lifting Sanctions On Iran
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent pushed after Senator Chris Coons said that temporary sanctions relief for Iran has granted the country $14 billion during the war.
Senator Coons opened his questioning by going after Secretary Bessent for filling Iran’s coffers through permitting unsanctioned oil sales while the United States is at war with the country, noting that it exceeded the funds released to Tehran as part of the 2015 JCPOA.
Bessent said he’d ‘like to know’ where the figures came from.
